EPFO Urges Employers to Use Employees’ Enrolment Campaign 2026 to Expand EPF Coverage
The Employees’ Provident Fund Organisation (EPFO) has urged establishments to utilise the Employees’ Enrolment Campaign, 2026 (EEC 2026), a one-time initiative aimed at bringing eligible employees who remained outside the Employees’ Provident Fund (EPF) coverage within the social security framework.
The campaign, notified with effect from June 29, 2026, covers eligible employees who were left out of EPF coverage between April 1, 2009, and March 31, 2026. It will remain open until October 31, 2026.
The initiative is aimed at facilitating voluntary compliance by employers and extending provident fund, pension and insurance benefits to eligible workers.
Under EEC 2026, eligible employers can declare and enrol employees who remained outside EPF coverage during the prescribed period, provided they are alive and continue to be employed with the establishment on the date of declaration.
The campaign provides specified relaxations to help employers regularise past compliance, including a waiver of the employee’s share of contributions where it was not deducted earlier, subject to the conditions of the scheme.
Employers are required to complete the enrolment and remittance process through the prescribed online mechanism. A Face Authentication-based Universal Account Number (UAN) must be generated for each declared employee through the UMANG App, while contributions are to be remitted through the Electronic Challan-cum-Return (ECR).
EPFO said the campaign provides a structured mechanism for bringing eligible workers under the statutory social security framework. Employers have been encouraged to review their employment and wage records to identify employees who may have remained outside EPF coverage during the specified period.
The organisation is also undertaking awareness and outreach activities to disseminate information about EEC 2026 among employers, employees, establishments, contractors and other stakeholders.
Ministries and departments of the Government of India, state governments and Union Territories, public sector undertakings, autonomous bodies and other organisations are being encouraged to promote the campaign among establishments and service providers under their administrative control.
EPFO has urged employers to make use of the one-time opportunity and complete the enrolment of eligible employees before the campaign closes on October 31, 2026.
