Piyush Goyal highlights India’s evolving role in global growth landscape

Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has highlighted India’s growing importance in the global economic landscape, pointing to sustained economic expansion, investment-led reforms and deeper integration with international markets.

Speaking at the ICAI International Conference 2026 in Singapore, Goyal underlined the opportunities and responsibilities emerging as India becomes increasingly connected with the global economy. He also emphasised the important role of Chartered Accountants in supporting India’s international economic engagement.

His remarks come during a broader push to strengthen India’s trade and investment partnerships. During his Singapore visit, Goyal has engaged with business leaders on investment opportunities and closer economic cooperation, while India is also seeking deeper investment ties with Japan and other major economies.

Goyal has repeatedly stressed that global uncertainty should be viewed as an opportunity for India to accelerate reforms, strengthen supply chains, expand exports and improve its competitiveness.

The government’s broader vision is to position India as a trusted global partner and build a $30 trillion-plus economy by 2047, with international trade, manufacturing, technology and investment playing central roles.

Key takeaway: India’s role is increasingly shifting from being primarily a fast-growing market to becoming a major contributor to global growth, investment and supply chains.
